BACH: CONCERTO IN D MINOR BWV 1052 (mvt.I)
Some projects are about repertoire.
This one is about people.
BWV 1052 (mvt. I) brings together multiple generations, histories, and artistic paths inside one high-voltage, rock-infused reimagining of Bach’s iconic D minor concerto. Within Covert Ensemble, this performance reflects the way mentorship, long-standing friendships, and deep artistic partnerships shape the music as much as the notes themselves.
For this project, we have included emerging artists alongside seasoned collaborators — students performing alongside teachers, longtime friends making music again, and core artistic partners whose voices help define the group’s identity. Featured with a solo turn in this project is virtuoso pianist Kristian Alexandrov, whose musical history with DC stretches back to the late 1990s in Calgary, bringing decades of shared experience into the present moment.
Filmed across Prague (CZ), Vancouver (Canada), and USA locations (St. Louis, MO, Troy, AL, and Oklahoma City, OK) this release spans continents while remaining deeply personal.
This is Bach reframed through a modern lens — electric, physical, and unapologetically crossover — grounded in trust, shared history, and collective energy. Full video is now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/eXMthPECNYw
